Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque | Sightseeing & Attraction in Abu Dhabi

This architectural work of art is one of the largest mosques in the world and can accommodate 40,000 faithfuls. It has 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, chandelier with 24 karat gold and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet. The central prayer hall is dominated by one of the largest chandeliers in the world - with a diameter of ten meters and a height of 15 meters, it weighs twelve tonnes. The first ceremony held in the mosque was the funeral of his name, Sheikh Zayed, who was buried here.

The mosque is surrounded by water basins, which underline the splendor of the building by mirror effects in the water. The façade, which is illuminated during the day in breathtaking white and golden shades, is illuminated at night by means of a unique lighting system that reflects the lunar phases.
